Launchpad X for keyswitching in Cubase/Win

Yes, I want to use the keypads of Launchpad as substitutes for the low register MIDI piano keys that are normally used for ”keyswitching” (e.g. changing the articulations in a given library running as a VSTi in Cubase such as changing a trumpet staccato articulation to a legato).
Presumably Cubase sees these MIDI piano ”keyswitch” key depressions as MIDI note ONs (out of range of the other piano keys that play audible notes in the are in the given instrument’s range). And each of these ”keyswitch” keys is mapped to a different articulation of the library.
So I just want to use the Launchpad keys instead of the MIDI piano keys for this purpose.
I am not sure in the Launchpad if each pad is sending a different CC number or if they are sending a different MIDI note number.
But I do know they are not able to be changed and I’m stuck with whatever the Launchpad keypads are sending out. I just need to transform them to whatever Cubase libraries are looking for to effect the articulation changes.
