What am I missing here?

I really would appreciate someone with experience and patience to assist a newbie.
Using Cubase pro 11, VCommander (for Virus C) and the midi translator.
Sometimes works, sometimes doesn’t…
Sometimes get a “midi port already used” message…
I know it’s me doing something wrong or missing something.
If someone could take the time I’d be thankful.

Hi,

I’m sure I could probably help but I would need to know more about your use case. I’m not familier with VCommander but I anticipate you are trying to talk to both Cubase and Vcommander with MIDI simultaneously. If you are getting midi port already used messages it means you are trying to open the same MIDI ports with multiple applications. If using Bome MIDI Translator, it is important that you open it first and connect to your hardware controllers and then use the other software to only talk to their own Bome MIDI Translator Virtual ports and then use Bome MIDI Translator Pro direct the MIDI traffic to and from each application.
