Ableton Playback A/B MIDI Output Switching to stage

Hello,

Hope you’re all good!

I’ve been working through a solution for when using multiple Bome Boxes on stage to send PC, CC and clock etc from a redundant Ableton playback system to switch keys patches, guitar moddeling boxes and so on where as only one computer would be sending the MIDI from Ableton at a time instead of both, (useful for Clock and PC messages in my experience.) My aim was to have visual feedback to view the ‘state’ of the translator whether its sending MIDI outputs from the Main or Backup computer and to MIDI map a toggle button so that I can quickly change this state with my MIDI controller at the playback rack.

I’ve come up with a set of translators for the Bome Boxes and some Max For Live MIDI devices for Ableton. The Max For Live devices can monitor and detect each Bome Box running the translators (up to 6) and toggle the state between MIDI being sent with a MIDI mappable button.

I have tested the system but wondering if anyone else would like to test it to make sure it runs as expected, as my knowledge of Bome Translator Pro is not massive.

I imagine it will need some adapting when the Bome Box 2 comes out to accomadate for more outputs. I’m also posting in the hope that Bome may wish to build upon this idea to adapt something into the Bome Box 2’s interface / configuration to better this as its considerably easier to achieve a “Routing Preset Switch” on iConnectivity devices with visual feedback, where as I prefer the stabillity of Bome Network over RTP MIDI. Both fantastic products with different uses but I one day dream of something closer to Auracle for Bome! I don’t mean that as a dig if it comes across as one.

Here is a link to access the translator files, max devices and a guide on how to use.

Thanks very much!

Kind regards,

Jamie

Hi,

Thanks for posting this! Other users may indeed be very interested.

We created a failover project that is likely similar to what you created. You can always add any MIDI status translators if you would like. Our development schedule is pretty full right now.
