AKAI APC40 MK2, custom mapping

Hello, I want to override the default APC40 mapping in Ableton Live.

By applying my custom mapping to every instance of a plugin.

For example, customize the Ableton Limiter, setting the Gain knob to respond to the #8 knob of the controller.

And every time I use a new Limiter instance, that setting stills present.

Is it possible?

Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the Bome community!

We can certainly use Bome MIDI Translator Pro to remap a given knob on the controller. There are 8 knobs acrosss the top and 8 more over to the right area. Which knob did you intend to use?

As far as how Ableton Live works we would need to see if for each plugin, you can map the same knob for use of a given function (i.e. limiter) and whether that mapping is shared across instances of the plugin. If it is, then your first requirement would work.

Now if you want to remember the current position of the limiter for each track that is used, it may pose more of a challenge as Bome MIDI Translator Pro would not know which instance it is talking to. With that said, if the plugin supports learning a relative MIDI encoder then the plugin itself should remember its position based on the instance you have selected. We would change the encoder output from absolute to relative using Bome MIDI Translator Pro .

In a nutshell, please clarify the knob you want to use and I can set up Bome MIDI Translator Pro project to convert that knob to a relative encoder for testing with your plugin.

You might need to test and let me know the behaviour you getting vs the expected behavior.
