APC Mini to Quickshow and Daslight 5 help

Hello! Very new here to Midi and all my knowledge has been through failed help by Chat GPT. I currently have a APC Mini and was using it to control lasers through quickshow. In Quickshow when the input and output is for the apc mini it functions perfectly and has a nice feature where all pads are green except for the cue you are currently playing. Recently I added DMX lighting to my setup through daslight 5 and have made scenes that I want to trigger at the same time as a coresponding scene in quickshow.

Essentially I want a singular pad press on the apc to trigger a cue in quickshow and a scene in daslight that I choose at the same time, and keep the functionality of the leds being lit up and changing color whenever I switch to a different pad. I have Bome Pro and loop midi and am on windows. I would love some guidance on how to make this work best.

Edit: when I made a virtual ports I could get the midi pad presses going to both softwares through bomes routing but lost all led functionality on the controller. Also would love a way to sync the bpm detection of both softwares together, either from pangobeats to daslight or vice versa

Hi and welcome to the Bome community!

Assuming QuickShow is working correctly, you could create MIDI thru paths in Bome MIDI Translator Pro to route your MIDI to Bome Virtual ports and then have QuickShow connect to the virtual ports instead.

In the attached example I have my aliases set up as follows:

You can learn more about aliases from this tutorial.

Then your MIDI thru paths look like this. You don’t need loopMIDI as Bome MIDI Translator Pro virtual ports are more efficient.

Then you would translators for any buttons that you also want to use for Daslight. I’m not sure how Daslight selects scenes so in this example I’m going to just output the program change number depending on the button you press in the APC-MINI 64 matrix.

Preset 1 is set up to send to Daslight only.

For more information about device selection, see this tutorial.

The rules of translator 1.0 allow only notes 0-63 through

// Only allow matrix buttons 0-63
if pp>63 then exit rules, skip outgoing action

Of course since the MIDI Thru path is different, the original MIDI from the controller still goes to QuickShow.

I don’t put MIDI thru paths or translators back from Daslight to the APC-MINI because we don’t want to mess with what is already working with QuickShow.

Here is what happens in the Bome MIDI Translator Pro log window when I press the the bottom left button of the APC-MINI.

In QuickShow you need to set you input and output ports to Bome MIDI Translator 1 (BMT 1) and your QuickShow input port to BMT 2.

And here is the project file.
