Bome - gig performer

Greetings from Hawaii, I saw your interview with brett/gig performer yesterday on youtube. Brett mentioned something about a discount on bome products for current users of gig performer. Can you give me the details on how that works? I would like to purchase midi translator pro, bomebox and possibly other products.

And I have a couple of questions:

  1. does bome have a roadmap for supporting midi 2.0 (or does it support midi 2.0 already)?
  2. I am also interested in the possibility of running bome products on linux (wine, etc.)

Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the Bome community!

Here is the Gig Performer web site where you can get discount on Bome Products.

Yes, MIDI 2.0 is on the BomeBox and Bome Network roadmap. If you provide more details via our contact form, perhaps you would like to be a beta tester.

Right now Bome Network runs on Linux. You can find download links here.. It is free for computer to BomeBox communications. For computer to computer communications you would need to purchase Bome Network Pro.

Aloha Steve,

Got the discount code!

Mahalo (thanks) for the speedy reply and info. Looking forward to adding Bome gear to my home/live performance music setups.

As for me, I would probably not make a very good beta tester. I tend to gravitate towards stable/time tested solutions (pun intended). Maybe in the future, after I’ve had some time to absorb the new paradigm.

Thanks to Florian and the Bome team.

Yes, I imagine MIDI 2.0 as it rolls out will be more for the innovators for a while before it becomes mainstream. I think later this year the new MIDI 2.0 implementation might be available in Windows. Just a handful of developers have implemented parts of MIDI 2.0 to-date. Although there is a base standard, there are some details stil being ironed out. Until last year there wasn’t a standard for a transport system an Florian lead the team that put that standard together for a network transport.

Glad you found the discount!
