Bome MT > Ampero Control > Multiple Applications [PC]

Hi there! I love Bome MT Pro and use it daily. I use an Ampero floor footswitch to control YouTube on one bank of 4 footswitches and want to control Ableton with another bank of four. YouTube integration works fantastic.

Ableton can’t see Ampero since Bome is actively using it, so I created a Virtual MIDI Port and in the MIDI Router linked:

Ampero Control → Bome Virtual Port 1
Bome Virtual Port 1 → Ampero Control

In Ableton I have Bome Virtual Port 1 on Input and Sync checked. I see MIDI messages received in Ableton and map a MIDI button but then there is no effect when I press the footswitch I just mapped.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi and welcome to the Bome community!

Can you turn on the log Window and then check MIDI IN and MIDI OUT and show me what MIDI message it is sending? What control in Ableton Live are you trying to control with the footswitch? We might need to add a translator to give Ableton Live something it can use.

Hi,

Yes, these are program change messages which Ableton likely not know what to do with them. I think they can be mapped but am not sure how reliable they are.

You should probably use Ampero App to change these messages to CC messages.
Either that, you you could translate the existing message using Bome MIDI Translator Pro . It is probably best to do it with the Ampero app through so that you can them as momentary (a different message for pushed vs released).

Ah, I forgot to mention that I had tried these as CC messages first and only changed to PC messages after reading a user’s reply on reddit or something. All was changed via the Ampero App

OK, so then show me the CC messages that you are using and what control in Ableton Live that you want to learn them to.

I’m using CC 31, 32, 33, 34 and I’d like to map them to
Metronome, Play, Stop, Record

Hi, thanks for this. Sorry to bother you again but can you make it so that when you push the pedal it sends a value of 127 (0x7f) and when you release the pedal it sends a value of 0?

IE

Push - B0 1F 7F
Release - B0 1F 00

Then give it a try with Albleton Live directly. Bome MIDI translator Pro should not be required.

Furthermore, you should set Play and Stop for Momentary Mode as shown in my earlier post and you should set Record and Metronome to Toggle Mode.

The modes are shown on page 4 of the Ampero Control manual.

Hi Steve, thank you so much for the diligent effort with troubleshooting.

The reason I’m trying to use Bome is because on the previous bank I am utilizing footswitches for YouTube transport controls. Because of that, Ampero Control is unavailable in Ableton.

Forgive me for the noob question but where would I change the Push and Release values on the Ampero?

I have set up the button modes on Ampero as you’ve designated for the Ableton bank in question.

Thanks for the kind words!

I believe this is in the manual you set for momentary with A for push and B for release. I’m not an Ampero expert, I just looked at the manual. There might also be a Youtube tutorial on how this is done.

The below project file could be used for testing (without banks). All input assume momentary and 2 of the translators convert the input momentary to output toggle.

Ampero-Test.bmtp (3.2 KB)

I wasn’t aware the Youtube would recognize MIDI, I thought it only recognizes computer keystrokes.

AFAIK YouTube doesn’t know MIDI signals but thanks to Bome I am bringing my browser into focus and then trigger keystrokes at a slight delay and it works like a charm.

I’ll look into the manual and see if I can update it and report back. Thanks
