Hoping someone can provide guidance - I’m trying to use Bome Network to carry MIDI signals from three controllers (a Linnstrument, a Morningstart MC6, and an Akai EWI5000) from one macbook pro to another macbook pro over a direct wired network connection.
When I launch Bome Network on both macs, they see each other and the controllers get properly advertised. The Morningstar device can be shared properly. When I click Connect on the receiving Mac for the Linnstrument or EWI, however, Bome Network on the sending Mac disables all three controller ports and has to be restarted.
I am attaching the log files from both sides including an attempted connection to the EWI - any assistance would be much appreciated.
As far as setup - both macs are running the latest version of Tahoe, Bome Network is the latest version, the wired network connection is between two pluggable usb ethernet adapters, and the three controllers are connected via a powered USB hub.
I will ask our developer to look at your logs but as I read them, it looks like your preferred network is MIDI 2.0. Try changing your preferred Network to Bome Network instead and then instead of routing ports, use Remote Direct MIDI on your receiving machine to expose your sending machines desired ports. Make sure that you only connect using Bome Network and not both Bome Network and MIDI 2.0.
Make sure also that you check these two switches on so that the virtual ports are always available. You can find this in settings and the Virtual MIDI ports settings by first clicking on the gear icon in the Bome Network tool.
Thank you - interestingly, although the controllers appear in MIDI Studio on the transmitting mac, they do not appear in the list for Remote Direct MIDI assignment in Bome Network.
I generally do not use MIDI studio on my Mac and just access the ports directly using Bome Network. Maybe set up a new blank MIDI studio profile and use that then your ports should show up.
