Bome Network on iPhone and iPad

Hello, I recently bought the Bome Network Pro (5 devices) and the Unlimited Named Midi Ports because the way these were described fitted my needs exactly. But unfortunately they do not seem to function.

I have the app installed on my iPad Pro 2022 and my iPhone 15, and the IAPs activated. I have tried to make the app recognise the other device via our home network, via the hotspot of the phone and… the way I actually would like to use it, via an usb-c cable between the devices.
But no success unfortunately.

I requested refunds, but these were not approved.

How to proceed?

Regards,
Niels Exvee

Hi, and sorry for your troubles. Did you purchase Bome Network on the Bome shop or the AppStore?

If you purchased on the Bome shop, then that licenses is only good between computers (Windows,MacOS, Linux) but not good for iOS.

If you purchased on the AppStore and you are trying to send MIDI between iOS devices, it should work. With that said, you may need to go into Bome Network settings and set the name of your devices there as somewhere along the line, Apple decided to name their devices “localhost”. Setting the in the Bome Network tool, an override this to the name of your choice. See arrow. It is under network settings.

If the devices are on the same network, they should self discover. You may need to manually accept the connection but you can change that setting to always accept for the future.

If you want to send between iOS and computer, then you will need to purchase licenses for both (iOS on App Store and computer on Bome web shop).

Where did you request the refund?

Thanks for the suggestion! That’s a lot better. The devices now see eachother.

The only thing I hoped the Bome app would solve: is it possible they see eachother’s virtual ports? Now the iPad sees the iPhone as one port (and the other way around).

Edit: Hold up. That does work! It’s just a bit hidden under the name of the other device. Frigging great! Thanks for the quick support and keep up the good work!
