BOME Now I have just one pedal that does not work on my MIDIBUDDY

20250311_113448 Bome pic.jpg

Hello Steven,

Just before I got your email, I got Bome to work.

Now I have just one pedal that does not work. The pedal is labeled ‘0’ on the MIDIBUDDY,

but shows as KEY #1 on the Ableton effect.

I know it is not the pedal as I tested it.

When I hit the pedal I see the

MIDI IN light flash and the DIN Connector icon flash red.

NOTE: I never see the MIDI OUT light flash when I hit any of the pedals,

but the other pedals still seem to work for me.

Thank You,

Thomas

For some reason the picture is not showing. Could you post your project file an I can take a look.

Hello Steve… and now I have a face, great.
I’m not familiar with this nomenclature.
Just by accident, I was able to post a question on the forem.
What do you mean by ‘Could you post your project file’. A picture?

Thanks
Thomas

No the .bmtp file itself you can use the upload link shown when you reply.

ZZZK Bome MIDI project one pedal does not work.bmtp (1.62 KB)

My guess is you want to send keystroke “1” for ‘Voice Effect 1’. I so, you did not populate the desired keystroke in the outgoing action.

I populated it.

Here is the updated project file.

Steve,
How did you access this page on Bome? I do not see this page.
When I go to the KEY button on Abelton,
KEY #1 on Abelton is set for Pedal ‘0’ , KEY #2 is set for Pedal 1 and so on …

Thanks
Thomas

The manual page shows this. Press help menu or F1 within Bome MIDI Translator Pro

Also we have a ton of tutorials on Bome MIDI Translator Pro. I would look at the first few and maybe do a search of them for the word ‘key’.

This one looks like a likely candidate.

Steve,

The pedal now works. THANKS.
But now I get a hissing sound that goes on for 2 secs and then off for 6 secs.
Here is my setup for BOME…see pics
Tell me if I should change anything.
I still do not get the MIDI out to flash when I hit the pedal.

Thanks,
Thomas

No, because you are not sending MIDI, you are sending keystrokes instead. You could open the log window and check ‘Outgoing’ and you would see them there.

Not sure where the hissing would come from

Steve, The hissing sound has to do IK Multimedia Amplitube 3 and not Bome.

Thanks
Thomas

Yes, that makes sense. Good to know. Thanks!

Tell me if I should change anything or let it be?

Again, Thanks for your help!

Do these keystrokes, target a specific application? If so, we can set it up to either:

Switch to the given application before sending the keystroke

or

Not do anything if the target application is not focused

This was something that was added either in 1.9.0 or 1.9.1 (don’t remember)

I would need to know the path and name of the application.

Steve,
Im not sure what your last massage means. I’m using MIDIBUDDY pedals (10 pedals) to turn on or off effects in Ableton using BOME.

Thanks for your help,
Thomas

Yes but I assume that if you don’t have Ableton Live as the currently focused application, it doesn’t work

I have Ableton Live 9 Suite (9.7.7 64-bit). Does this information help?
Thanks

This version will make sure Ableton Live 9 Suite is focused before sending a keystroke. See translator 0.0. Although I tested with translator 0.1 which is now purposely disabled because I’m running Ableton Liv 11 Suite.
