Bomebox update went wrong and cannot connect

I did the update and left the device for many minutes. Having turned it off and on again the power led flashes but nothing else. The rj45 is not showing connectivity and the router cannot see it neither can your network software. Is there a way to reset it in this situation. I tried via wifi but the light will not come on.

Help would be appreciated.

Hi,

I’m sorry to hear about the problem you are having with BomeBox! Hopefully we can get you up and running again quickly.

First of all, since you are saying that the power led flashes but never turns solid, I suspect, perhaps a power source related issue. Please make sure you have your BomeBox connected to a power source with consistent power. By consistent, I mean you cannot generally use USB charging port as a power source as it will vary the voltage as though it were trying to “charge” your BomeBox, BomeBox will not tolerate varying voltages and will attempt to continue to restart over and over again. Since you power LED is blinking, I suspect this is what is happening.

So either pick a different power source (non charging port on powered USB Hub, 48V POE, or a stable USB power supply) or ensure your power source is currently stable). You might also try a different USB cable to your mini USB connector just in case it is a cable issue.

Once you get a steady power light, you can use the procedure outlined in the user guide to on pages 28 and 29 reset all BomeBox parameters. You will need a FAT32 formatted USB thumb drive for this procedure.

If this doesn’t work, please get back to us as soon as possible so that we can assist further.

You can use the “Report a Bug” link since this would be more of “support” action than a “question”.

Of course, if you make some progress but still need help, feel free to respond again here.

I found that procedure but it didnt work. The psu is an adaptor from yourselves so I know its powered properly.

The wifi led comes on briefly with the power then it goes out and the power stays flashing.

Hi Peter, can you reach out to me in email?

Another thing to try in troubleshooting is to make sure that there are no-devices connected to the BomeBox when restarting just in case one of the attached USB devices is “misbehaving” and drawing too much power.

I’ve captured all of your information in email and escalated the issue. Since it is no longer a normal Q&A, this will be handled outside of the forum.
