BomeNetwork - all settings gone

Hi

after reboot all my settings in BomeNetwork are gone, virtual ports and router settings. How can I get them back?

I made a copy of ‘c:\Users\primozz\AppData\Roaming\Bome\’ folder, shut down BomeNetwork and copied a last good ‘BomeNet_Backup4.bmts’ to ‘BomeNet.bmts’ an run it again but it didn’t do the trick, now also the file ‘BomeNet_Backup4.bmts’ is empty, just like ‘BomeNet.bmts’.

Is there a way to solve this, I’ve had tens of virtual ports and routing set and now all are gone!

I’ve restarted BomeNetwork again and now at least my virtual ports are back but routings are stil gone:(

Hi,

I’m so sorry this happened. We have not seen this before. There should be multiple copies of BomeNet backup in that folder I think there is the main one and the 5 backup copies. Did you try an older one

BomeNet.bmts - Currently running
BomeNet_Backup
BomeNet_Backup2

BomNet_Backup5

What version of BomeNetwork are you running?

Keep in mind, backups are rotated so probably best to save all of your backups with different filenames and then try one at a time. New Backups will then get created and will not overwrite your current backups.

Hi Primozz, that’s sad to hear!

  • Which version of Bome Network are you using?
  • how old is your disk drive?
  • When you replace the .bmts settings file, do so only when Bome Network is completely shut down
  • if you don’t have a backup, you can check if your Windows created a snapshots and revert back to it
  • it is always recommended to have a backup system installed where you can retrieve old versions of a file or folder

I hope that helps a little!

Hi Florian,

I’m running v1.60 on win10 and system disk is SD, older than 5 years.

I have 2 of .bmts backup files that are ok, others are empty, one is corrupted I guess, cause it’s full of dots, no text.

I will try replacing the setings file again after reboot and BomeNetwork not set to autostartup and I’ll let you know how it goes.

Thaks for help.

Hi,

I had to run chkdsk /f, then I’ve restored BomeNet.bmts from previous backup and now all virtual ports and routings are back

I guess it’s time to replace my SD drive…

Thanks again.

I’m glad you were able to recover things! I know how frustrating it can be to have to redo work.
