Hi,
I created 9 more aliases but they are not showing up in Cubase. I assume it is because BMTP has reached its limit. I think we need more ports to be honest, as 9 banks of tracks in Cubase only allows the control of (9x8) 72 tracks which is not really enough.
Hi,
Each port allows for 16 tracks so it is 9x16 or 144 separate MIDI channels. With that said, if you need more, you can always use Bome Unlimited Named Ports add-on to Bome Network, even if you don’t purchase the Pro version of Bome Network. You can create as many aliases as you would like but aliases are only known to MT Pro.

Interesting. I am using 9 Mackie Controls in Cubase and AFAIK, each one only sends 8 variations of (90 xx 7F) to BMTP.
OK, yes MCU only supports MIDI CH1. I’m not sure how many MCU devices Cubase MCU supports. If I remember, if you use multiple MCU devices, Cubase doesn’t allow banking. If it support more than 9 MCU devices, then you would need to use Unlimited Named MIDI ports or similar for any ports over 9.

I don’t actually use Bome Network. Just BMT Pro. How would I go about getting Unlimited Named MIDI Ports?
Download Bome Network (not pro) for free. It looks like you will not be using the network features so no reason for the paid version.
Then purchase Unlimited Named MIDI Ports from the web shop.
You can then create your own ports and set up routing.
Unlike MT Pro ports, you can give them your own name.
Unlike MT Pro ports, you need to create routes for a port you create. If you want to use the port as a pipe and you call it test you would route as follows
IN: Test Virtual In → Out:Test Virtual Out.
Without routing, ports are just endpoints going to nowhere.
I use them for both Bome Network routing across computers and BomeBox and also to allow port sharing by created multiple routes to and from specific hardware devices.
