I am using 2 controllers with Ableton. Each controller has a few presets with deactivate all the other presets toggle switches.
The problem is that when I put them in one project, it deactivates all presets when I select a preset. That is how it is expected to behave, but I’d like to know how I can use 2 controllers with multiple presets, but it doesn’t deactivate presets from other midi controller when switching presets.
The option to deactivate all other presets (except always active) can be unchecked.
In doing this I usually put translators within given presets that turn of other presets when the current preset it active.
Say you want to de-activate preset 1 an 5 when you activate preset 4.
In preset 4
Incoming: On Activation Outgoing: Deactivate preset 1
Incoming: On Activation Outgoing: Deactivate preset 5
Incoming: On Deactivate Outgoing: Activate preset 1
Incoming: On Deactivate Outgoing: Activate preset 5
If I have whole bunch of presets that I want to manage then I might use a timer that iterates through the presets and activates/deactivates them based on preset number. This can save from having to write many different translators.
Also if you want to run them as separate projects, you can uncheck the following in settings and run multiple instances of MT Pro.
This will disable some command line switches however like /triggerperform /triggertimer and /setvar,
