CC→CC translation visible in Bome log but not exiting virtual port (to Ableton Live)

Hello,

I’m running into an issue with a very basic CC→CC translation.

Use case:

I’m trying to remap a single button on an Arturia KeyLab Essential 88 Mk3 (CC 23, ch 1 → CC 100, ch 1) while continuing to use Ableton Live 11’s built-in control surface script for all other knobs, faders, and buttons on the device.

I followed the online instructional video, creating pretty much the exact same translator device. (except for my different CC #’s)

Bome’s log clearly shows the translation occurring (CC 23 → CC 100).

Problem:

Outside of Bome, the translated CC never appears. I only see CC 23 when monitoring:

  • Snoize MIDI Monitor (standalone)

  • A Max for Live MIDI monitor device inside Ableton Live.

  • or when using Live’s MIDI Map Mode

Ableton tests

  • The Bome virtual output used for this translator is enabled for Track + Remote in Live’s MIDI settings

  • I tested both with the KeyLab control surface script enabled and fully disabled

  • Even with no control surface active, Live only receives CC 23

Any insight into what might prevent a CC→CC translation from reaching the virtual output—especially when used upstream of Ableton—would be appreciated.

Many thanks.

Hi and welcome to the Bome community!

Could you show me how you have Ableton Live set up for MIDI Input? If you are sending to Bome Virtual Port 1 from within Bome MIDI Translator Pro , you should set Remote input to “BMT 1” in Ableton Live MIDI Options

If another application (like Snoize) has the port open and you are on a Windows Platform, then no other port will be able to read the port you are sending to. This is a Windows thing.

Make sure your project, preset, or translator is set to send to the correct port.

If you have more trouble, please post.

  1. A screenshot of how you have Ableton Live MIDI options set up.
  2. A copy of the project file you are trying to use.
  3. Turn on the log window in Bome MIDI Translator Pro and check MIDI IN, MIDI OUT, Incoming and Outgoing and copy and past the log text into your reply.
