Dear team,
first of all, thank you very much for the efforts in developing and maintaining the BomeBox and Bome Translator Pro, these are great pieces of engineering!
My BomeBox is not automatically establishing the connection with my Allen & Heath CQ18T. In the Allen & Heath menu in the Web-UI of the BomeBox, I see the CQ still with status ‘enabled, unused [manual]’, even though the console is powered on and has network connectivity. It then requires me to click on the ‘Disable’ button, followed by the ‘Enable’ button again, and it promptly connects with status ‘connected [manual]’.
I already read about the limitation, that BomeBox does not support auto-discovery for the CQ-line (as mentioned here), and I guess this is still the case, as auto-discovery didn’t work either, so I followed the recommendation to add the device manually.
I have the following setup:
- BomeBox running firmware 1.5.4 (76412)
- Allen & Heath CQ18T running firmware 1.2.2 r4248
- Standalone Router with internal DHCP-Server (192.168.30.1), assigning always the same IPs to BomeBox (192.168.30.40) and CQ (192.168.30.51) via fixed DHCP-reservation
- BomeBox connected as ‘Ethernet client’ via cable to the router, WiFi disabled on BomeBox
- CQ connected as Ethernet client via cable to router
- Both devices are successfully receiving their default IPs on every boot - no issue here
- Bome Translator Pro project running in BomeBox, providing the MIDI-Alias ‘CQ’
- Allen & Heath CQ18T manually added in the Allen & Heath menu of the BomeBox
- Allen & Heath device name (IP-Address) mapped to ‘CQ’ alias in the MIDI Ports menu (and saved) in the BomeBox
I can reproduce the problematic state as follows:
- All devices switched off
- Power-on the rack (Router and BomeBox start up simultaneously)
- Switch on the CQ18T
- waiting forever for auto-connection … here my manual intervention is required, as described above.
I was looking in the forums, but couldn’t find this problem being described in that way already.
FYI: I also own an Allen & Heath SQ5 console, and here I somehow remember similar issues sometimes when having added it manually; this is why I changed for the SQ5 from ‘manual’ to ‘auto-discovery’, which worked flawlessly for the SQ-line. Unfortunately, it does still not work for the CQ. p.s. I never connect both (or more than one) A&H console at a time
I would appreciate any ideas you might have.
Thanks a lot,
Steffen
