Different Bome configs for different apps

I use a common set of virtual MIDI ports for all my music apps. (Ableton, Dorico, Digital Performer).

But I’d like to do different presets/triggers depending on the app I’m using.

I don’t expect Bome to manage this automatically. But I presume that if I load a different project, that Bome clears out the previous?

Can the project file be specified on the command line? That way I could create a script that launches Bome with dorico.bmtp then Dorico. (Or Bome with ableton.bmtp then Ableton, etc.).

Or you may have a better idea?

Thanks!

Yes, I do this. Usually the best approach if you will be quickly switching apps is to use different virtual ports for each app. You can target the desired virtual port within a preset and then do preset switching to change apps. If you don’t need translators, then you can simply enable and disable different routes to the virtual port a given app used.

You can also us an application in focus trigger to switch presets or enable/disable appropriate routes so for instance, when Ableton if focuses you have routing to BMT 1, when Dorico is focused have it routed to BMT 2 etc.

Switching presets or changing routes within a given project does not clear anything out, however if you switch projects, each project resets global variables to zero. This is one of the reason that I use the Init preset and translators as earlier described in a former post.

You can use an outgoing action to execute a Bome MIDI Translator Pro project and it does use the command line. If your settings in Bome MIDI Translator Pro are to allow for only one project, then the previous project is closed. Command line options are shown in the Bome MIDI Translator Pro user guide. You can use the help menu or press F1 within Bome MIDI Translator Pro to see the guide.

Bome is completely broken this morning.

I tried to submit my situation on the forum, and apparently due to my “excess enthusiasm” I have to wait NINE HOURS to submit it.
