Dual APC mini mk2 with Ableton 12, one slaved for scrolling

Hey ya’ll!
Just trying Bome Translator for the first time but it’s a bit over my head.

I just switched from an APC40 to 2 APC minis and a Midi Fighter Twister.

I wanted access to more clips in Session view.

Everything is working great BUT I would really love to make it so if I scroll down on the left APC, the right one follows and scrolls down as well. The right one would also need to be shifted to the right 8 tracks prior to scrolling down so I have access to 16 tracks of clips. Otherwise I plan to leave the two controllers as is.

It seems like it would be possible with Bome Translator but can someone confirm before I spend some time trying to understand Bome!

Thanks in advance!

Hi and welcome to the Bome community!

The way 2 APC MINIs would work in tandem is largely control by Ableton Live’s “MIDI Remote Scripts”. Your best bet to make them work in tandem would probably be to write your own script. With that said, it is not of the faint of heart but Remotify.io might do the job for you.

Bome MIDI Translator Pro is usually good for custom mapping (without using a MIDI Remote Script) but you have to use Ableton MIDI Learn for this.

You can also emulate a different controller with Bome MIDI Translator Pro. For instance you could create a project file that converts APC-MINI commands to Mackie MCU and then each APC-MINI would control a different set of 8 tracks.

I guess you might also be able to have 1 APC-MINI issue commands from each “virtual device” allowing you to control both devices from one but it would probably be tricky to do that.

I would start with just testing your devices as separate devices with Ableton Live and see if the MIDI remote script behaves as you would like.

It may work best if you use Bome MIDI Translator Pro merge outputs (with different MIDI messages each) into one MIDI port to Remotify and the program Remotify to see it as a single custom controller.

Steve! Thank you so much. I will be messing around with Remotify.

I really appreciate the quick response and will be reporting back!
