Feature Request - BMT - Select Midi Devices dialog auto-dismiss countdown

Hey Bome folks, would you consider adding a let’s say an optional 60 second auto-dismiss countdown to this startup dialog?

It’s a more than a bit annoying when that it appears during every launch / re-launch of BOME if we don’t have all the devices powered on. Specifically, when the launch / re-launch is intended as ‘background start’ rather then opening to do some scripting with the BMT.

Naturally, I have an AHK script for Windows startup to automatically close it and could possibly create additional script to deal with manual restarts of BMT, but why not include it directly into the BMT itself?

Thanks for the suggestion. I will pass it along.

However on unassigned alias you can either take all references in the project that use them out or for those you don’t care about, you could select “(none don"t ask again)” instead of '(no assignment). Then you won’t be prompted.

I understand your suggestions, but those are not the solution in case of using one ‘MEGA’ project that has various sub-projects (presets) that run as a part of the overall studio infrastructure. In this case, unless all the hardware is switched on, there are usually going to be some devices turned off and therefore this dialog will pop-up on startup.

Thank you for the feature request from my side, too. I fully understand the ‘pain’ of the pop-up. Your proposed configurable, timed auto-dismissal would be one way to solve it.

On the other hand, we are considering two changes for the next release that would probably solve your issue, too:

  1. Make the ‘(none - don’t ask again)’ setting persistent for a port:
Currently, that selection gets forgotten once you plug in the device in question. If this is persistent, it will never cause the prompt even if you unplug it afterwards or on next restart.

  2. Mark a MIDI port as optional in your project file:
This allows you to proactively say for any MIDI port that it is not essential for the project and should not cause warnings or pop-ups if it is unplugged or not assigned when starting up or during runtime of the project.

Do you think that would solve your issue? Thanks.

noted, thanks!
