Feature Request: Copy/Paste Translator Feature(s)

It would be really helpful if we could copy/paste certain features of a Translator over to other Translators. Maybe there could be a pop up list where we check all the features we want to copy over. They could include:

Name
Incoming Action
MIDI In Ports
Rules
Outgoing Action
MIDI Out Ports

And if the Translators already share the same e.g. Incoming Action, then we could include/exclude certain aspects of the Incoming Action e.g. include just the CC# Variable. Then we could select the Translator(s) and hit “Paste Feature”.

Another minor request would be that there be better labelling for the “Select MIDI ports”.

It would be helpful if the above indicated whether it is MIDI In or MIDI Out prior to clicking on “Specific Ports…”

It would also help if the Incoming area was a slightly different colour to the Out Going area.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will pass it along.

I’m also thinking maybe a way to have one of the values to increase or decrease as you duplicate the translator so maybe you want to have 5 translators with a different CC value. You could include the number of translators that you want to create then check increment or decrement on one of the values.

For instance if the CC value is 1 you could choose to duplicate all but increase the cc value for each so that you would get cc value 2-5 added.

I’m not sure how hard this is to do, but again I will pass it along.
Right now what I do is:

  1. Duplicate the original translator (CTRL-D or right menu click on duplicate)
  2. On the new translator, change the values I want changed.

Maybe a pop-up on CTRL-D or right click so you have a dialog to show what you want to duplicate and how many times

Thank you both for the suggestions. The MIDI IN/OUT suggestions are great and simple to integrate.

The special copy/paste modes seem involved, from a usability point of view. Would it help to Allow pasting any of the sections individually? I.e. ‘Paste Incoming’? pasting over an existing item will then only paste into the incoming section.

Thanks,
Florian

I believe this would certainly be a step in the right directionbut let’s also see what @Jesse.B says.

Yeah, that would be great.

Currently, the only way to copy features is with timers, mouse clicks, Ctrl(C), Ctrl(N),Ctrl(V).
