Feature request: "Easy" Midi Mapping when Creating a Translator

I have a small feature request. After working with and creating translators, one thing I wished I could do was simply "hit" or "press" a midi note on my keyboard or drum pad that automatically puts in values of the Channel and Note in the Incoming section of the translator. Much akin to Ableton's "midi learn" function or Groove Agent's "edit/learn trigger note", does this functionality exist in BOME MT?

Yes, this feature actually exists to use it.

1) Go to the right side of the screeen in the section where it shows Incoming

2) Click on Capture MIDI

3) Push a button or turn a knob. The message will show up in the capture window.

4) Click on the desired message, it will be populated into the currently selected translator as inpu.

You can also do this in the Outgoing Section of you want to capture a knob or button to translate to. I this case the clicked on message will be populated in the Outgoing section of the currently selected translator.

When capturing MIDI, you can use the gear icon to select whether you want raw MIDI capture or human readable messages by checking or unchecking "Raw Capture"

I followed the steps, but don’t seem to be transmitting midi to Ableton daw via BOME Midi input. See pic here: https://imgur.com/a/adlJX4T

Hi,

Two possible problems.

  1. For output you have chosen both Bome Virtual Port 1 (which is an alias that points to Bome MIDI Translator 1 Virtual Out which you have also checked). Consequently, the note-off will be sent twice. Once to the alias and again to the real port.
  2. Ableton may not like note-off. Many of the manual mappings look only for note-on.

Also, you are sending note-off. Most instruments are really looking for both Note-on and Note-off so maybe yo need a translator for each. Note-off by it self usually doesn’t show anything. Do you see the MIDI light in Ableton LIVE blinking?
