How to send fluctuating CC's to the volume of each of 4 tracks - for variety

I have 4 tracks in Ableton with rhythmic samples in each. Other tracks are used for melodic and harmonic elements. I like to concentrate on launching various samples in the melodic and harmonic tracks, and while I do that, the 4 rhythm tracks provide an underpinning.
Is there a way to make the volumes of the rhythmic tracks fluctuate up and down in some random or semi-random way so that the 4 tracks fade in and out, providing a more dynamic pattern, rather than to remain static…all tracks remaining at the same level relative to each other. I can do this, of course, by sending CC messages generated by the faders that control volume of each track, but it’s too much to do at the same time as I concentrate on melody etc.
I believe there may have been a Max4Live device that does this, but can’t track it down. Maybe even something in Ableton. Just can’t locate these functions.

My guess is that there is some automation in Ableton that could do something like that. If you want to do it with Bome MIDI Translator Pro, you would need to set up a series of timers running at different intervals that ramps up and down the volume of the desired tracks. Probably something like a sawtooth pattern. The trick would be, that if you want to maintain a relative same volume over the sum of the tracks, you would need to probably run the a plugin that does some compression on the sum of the output of the 4 tracks.

I agree that something like this would probably be best done with a plug-in or max4live rather than Bome MIDI Translator Pro.

OK, thanks Steve. I’ll try to track that device or function down. And good idea to put on a compressor. Thanks.
