Is it (or is it on the cards for a future update) possible to load a modified bomes exported text version of the entire patch ?

Hi,
At this point there are no plans to import from a text file. The function to export to text was primarily created to make it easier for a user to look at a snapshot of the configuration within a text editor.
There have, however been discussion to storing and retrieving data either in XML or JSON data format.
If this is done, care will need to be taken to preserve backward compatibility with the currently stored format.
I don’t have estimates on when this will be done, but it is something still on our list.
