Keeping track of rules and variables with special external editor

I am a new user and found that I needed to create a separate external text file with sections for each translator that I could easily see all the rules and variables being used across all translators in one document.
Is there a special text editor available that will check syntax when
creating new rules and keep track of all variables being used for all translators in one document. It would be also useful if you could export all rules and variables and translator documenting info being used to this document ; edit as desired and import back to program.

There is no specific special editor, however I recommend you review this tutorial on best practices.
