Load specific audio files into virtual DJ with midi

@SteveC

I haven’t had a chance to try things myself but with your knowledge I’m wondering if you could shed some thought process on this idea

I have BMT PRO and also Bome Network too

I’m looking to
1.Focus application to Virtual DJ
2. Load a specific song via midi from iPad
3. Maybe keystroke a space bar to then trigger playback

I’m thinking this will need a midi trigger per song
Then duplicate and change the action to load the song
Then duplicate to execute keystroke for playback

Originally I thought of setting V DJ as the default program for audio files, and then execute a file via Midi to load
But V DJ can’t be set as a default program to my knowledge

Any genius thoughts

Would this be a program change?

It is likely we could get something to work. with multiple translators with the input trigger and different outgoing actions depending on which PC you send. I’m not sure what outgoing actions it would take to load a given song. That might be the trickier part.

I have already control change midi set up to work with selecting individual Ableton projects via bandhelper from the iPad to the MacBook Pro via BOME network

I was going to create a new project for Virtual DJ
And use the same Midi control to load a simple 2 track version to virtual DJ for different gigs

So for example on my bandhelper app on iPad
I have “Don’t Stop Believing” this contains lyrics and on selection it sends a midi control message to BMT

This then would need to probably Focus virtual DJ

Then to search and load the specific song is the hard part

Yes, if you can reliably do it manually, we should be able to figure out how to automate it.

I’ll test a few things tomorrow and if I have any luck will reply here

Sounds good!
