I’d like to use MIDI CC controller knobs to adjust Pro Tools Audio Plugins (not instruments). I’ve seen examples of how to control faders this way, but can’t find any example for plugins.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks

Hi,
Due to the complexity of the HUI protocol, this is usually done by a number of button pushes, followed by VPOT pushes and adjustments.
Since we can manipulate, buttons and VPOTs using Bome MIDI Translator, you would have to send a series of values when you turn the knob to insure:
and possibly
Since the 8 VPOT’s on a HUI controller are multi function, you would probably need multiple knobs to automate this function for every plugin you wish to adjust. Say you have 8 plugins to control in track 1. You would need to select plugin, track , parameter for the proper plugin then turn the knob to adjust. If you want to do this with a dedicated knob, you would need a different knob to trigger this function for each of the 8 plugins on that track.
With all that said, I’m not an expert with ProTools so maybe someone else has figured the full sequence of events.
Alternatively you could manual map each of the buttons and knobs to a specific HUI function and do it manually but you may or may not have the benefit of the Scribble Strip display to see where you are in the process. The scribble strips display different messages as you do this to provide a menu of where you are.
