Midi Device not seen?

Hi there!

Just did a fresh install of my PC..

Using a Steinberg TP controller. The thing with all the buttons.

Now, it does not show up in the midi setup screen. Any idea what I can check to get it to appear ?

Hi,

The most common problems for this type of issue are:

  1. USB port not providing enough power for the device (use a powered USB hub)
  2. Device is not MIDI USB class compliant (check with the manufacturer)
  3. Defective MIDI cable

What platform are you running?

On Windows check device manager to see if you can see the port.

On Mac, look at MIDI setup to see if the Mac can see the port.

You can also download and look at MIDI ports with other MIDI tools. The below are free or shareware.

Windows - Bome SendSX, MIDI OX, MIDI Tools

Mac - MIDIMon, MIDI Tools

If you can see the MIDI port with any of the above tools, let me know. If not, check the list above.

Hi Steve, It was a Hardware / Driver issue. I went trhough all the settings and found a conflict.

Thanks for pointing me in ht right direction.
