MIDI In to Keystroke OUT - Mac OS 10.14.6

Hi, I have just installed MIDI Translator Pro and have MTP ticked in Security & Privacy - Accessibilty.

I have created a new Translator (midi in to keystroke out) and I can see MIDI In registering in the Event Monitor but no activity in the Keystroke Out.

Any solution would be greatly appretiated

Hi,

When hitting your your MIDI in key, does Bome MIDI Translator have focus or is your cursor focused outside of Bome MIDI Translator.  By default, Bome MIDI Translator will suppress outgoing keystrokes when focused. You can change this in the Settings page in the Options Menu. The reason it is set to suppress by default so that you can work with Bome MIDI Translator without your MIDI keystrokes messing you up while you are working within the Bome MIDI Translator application so it is better if you can keep it checked and just make sure you have focus outside of MT Pro when testing the MIDI to keystroke functions.  I usually open up an editor and place my focus there. You can also open the log window on MT pro and check the Outgoing box and it will show whether the keystroke is being sent or suppressed.

Let me know if this helps.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for this information. I've tried both suppressing and testing whilst not focused.

At no time can I get the event monitor to show Keystroke Out activity.

I've tried opening up blank projects multiple times to rule out any unneccesary programing.

cheers Tris

Hi, do you see anything in the log window? Could you show me a screenshot of the log window with MIDI IN, Incoming and Outgoing checked after you have pushed the input button you are using to trigger the event? It is easier to tell what is going on with the log view than the event view.

OK, since you see MIDI IN but no Incoming, it looks like the incoming message does not match the condition as set in the translator, I can't tell since I cant see the entire translator but perhaps either the channel or the value of the button you are pressing does not match. Please modify the translator so that the incoming trigger matches what your button sends. If you want note on at any velocity set it to ANY. Then in should work.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your time on solving this. You were right in identifying that my note selection in the translator did not match my midi input.

Much appreciated, cheers Tris

Glad to help. This is a common issue. I’ve been bit by this one before. Best to always look at Incoming and MIDI IN. If you see MIDI IN but no Incoming then the trigger is wrong (that is if the trigger is MIDI)
