MIDI keystroke to selected application

hi bome forum -

Trying to find a solution to a seemingly intractable Sonar / Mackie / FaderPort MCU Transport problem - maybe others have had this issue.

So hello, thanks in advance, and here goes …

My DAW is Sonar, and the hardware control surface is Presonus/Fender FaderPort 8 on USB in MCU Sonar mode.

In Sonar, the Control Surface choices include ‘Mackie Control’ which then shows the MIDI input & output from FaderPort 8. Generally all works well except for a disconnect between the transport functions on computer keyboard and the FaderPort.

When using computer keyboard to do transport , pressing SPACE functions like a ‘Pause’ and playback/recording stops at that point in the timeline.

Pressing the FaderPort transport button marked as ‘PLAY / PAUSE’ is not sending the same info as the computer keyboard SPACE.

Can Bome Classic (or Pro) be setup to intercept the MIDI message coming from FaderPort transport to change it from MIDI to a SPACE or CTL+SPACE that Sonar would receive ?

Hi and welcome to the Bome community!

Bome MIDI Translator Pro can do this. You would basically put it in between your controller and Cakewalk and in set up MIDI routing as pass through. Then you could create a translator that converts MIDI to keystroke. Anything with a translator would use the translator and not pass through, but everything else would go through the MIDI through paths untouched.

Here is a tutorial on sending a keystroke to a given application.

You can download a trial copy of Bome MIDI Translator Pro here.
