MIDI Network and engine buffer overflow

Hi, hoping you’re able to help out! I have an issue that started today, and not sure where the problem resides.

Quick overview of the set up: I have two MacBooks connected over the native MIDI Network in MacOS. Mac1 is running Ableton Live, and sending MIDI program changes to Mac2, which MT is grabbing and running a simple AppleScript to launch a video file.

When I initially set everything up last night, the process was working flawlessly. Now, today, I have everything connected the same, but as soon as the MIDI message reaches Bome, there is an issue. The message is received constantly/infinitely, leading to engine buffer overflow errors.

I’ve been trying to pinpoint where the problem is happening, and it seems like everything is fine until it hits Bome. I’m certainly no expert, so please let me know what info might be needed.

Here are some of the places I’ve checked:

  1. On Mac1, Ableton shows MIDI out activity behaving correctly
  2. On Mac1, MIDI Network shows MIDI out activity behaving correctly
  3. On Mac2, MIDI Network shows MIDI in activity behaving correctly
  4. On Mac2, Bome shows errors and the infinite loop

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Hi and welcome to the Bome community!

It sounds that you might have a MIDI loop somewhere. Could you share your project file?
