I would like to request native RTP-MIDI (AppleMIDI) support for the BomeBox.
I recently purchased a BomeBox with the intention of using it as a bridge between a hardware MIDI controller and my existing DIN MIDI devices.
The controller I use is MORTRIX, which is a standalone hardware MIDI controller with built-in RTP-MIDI support over Ethernet/Wi-Fi:
Unfortunately, I discovered that BomeBox currently supports Bome Network MIDI, but not native RTP-MIDI, so the two devices cannot communicate directly.
My ideal setup would be:
MORTRIX (RTP-MIDI over Wi-Fi/Ethernet)
↓
BomeBox
↓
DIN MIDI / USB MIDI
↓
Eventide, ENGL, etc.
This would create a completely computer-free solution and make the BomeBox an excellent bridge between modern network-based MIDI controllers and traditional MIDI hardware.
I know RTP-MIDI has been requested before, but I believe there are now more standalone hardware devices supporting RTP-MIDI, making native support even more valuable than when the original requests were made.

thank you for your request. We’re actually getting more requests for RTP-MIDI these days and are seriously considering adding it to the BomeBox and to Bome Network. Then, our products would be truly multi-protocol.
On a side note, we hoped that the Network MIDI 2.0 standard (in which Bome is heavily invested) would allow us to skip RTP-MIDI, but it seems that the market is not there yet…
That’s really great to hear. RTP-MIDI support would make the BomeBox a perfect bridge between dedicated hardware controllers like the MORTRIX and traditional MIDI devices. I would be happy to beta test such a feature if you decide to implement it.
I’m in a similar situation. I use a Mortrix with a BomeBox to control an Allen & Heath SQ.
At the moment the path runs via DIN into the BomeBox, which then talks to the mixer over Ethernet on the A&H TCP port. That works, but native RTP-MIDI in the BomeBox would keep the entire chain on the network. It would make the setup simpler and more flexible, since the controller would no longer need to sit physically next to the BomeBox.
The BomeBox and A&H combination is already essential for me. Native RTP-MIDI would make it complete. I would be happy to test such a feature.
