Password not working, password reset not working for Bome Box

Hey,

I am prepping a tour and have just booted up my bomebox that I last used on this same tour a year ago and haven’t touched since. I pulled up my IP address and password from our spreadsheet, pulled up the web login, and it is rejecting the password.

I’ve tried the password reset text file on three different usb drives with no luck. I never changed the password in the first place, is something wrong with my device?

If the only solution is the text file, is there a specific available brand/model of usb drive that is known to work?

Hi,

The key things to remember are:

  1. Leading zeros are important, make sure the are number 0 and not letter O.
  2. In Windows, sometimes you can hid extensions so if you created a file with a “.txt” extension and extensions are hidden, it may be seen as “filename.txt.txt” . Make sure you unhide file extensions if you are using Windows.
  3. Most USB drives work. It is rare that they don’t but smaller one are more likely to work (in my experience). I always keep a USB drive handy that I’ve used and it worked before.
  4. If you have unreliable power (like a fast charger), you BomeBox might get confused and get into a repeat boot cycle. Make sure you have consistent stable power.
  5. Look for typos in the filename (I’m sure you have but, I had to add this).
    I hope this helps!

Answers above. I’m pretty sure I’m doing it all correctly, and never changed the password to begin with. Could some other conflict be causing an issue?

Is the password reset file the only file on the USB drive and in the root folder?

You might try a factory reset but if the USB drive is not good, that might not help. Do you have a local friend that can lend you a USB drive? Did you try reformatting the USB drive and the putting the file on it again?

Password is file is the only file, tried reformatting all the drives. Tried one as exfat as well. Still no luck.

Very Strange. It needs to be FAT32. Could you show me a screenshot of the file name looking at your computer and also a picture of the label serial number on your BomeBox.
You can send a PM if you don’t like sharing this publicly.

I assume that you can actually get to the web page of the BomeBox so it should be running. Did you try the BomeBox serial number as a login password in case it took?
Hopefully you are not thinking of the WiFi password which is different and you would need a network reset for that.
