Hi, I bought Expressive E’s Osmose to use as a DAW controller, but I was baffled by the lack of semitone transposition. So I’m using Bome Translator as a demo because I think it might enable this feature.
I followed the YouTube tutorial,
And I activated the virtual midi port and made it recognized by Cubase.
I then connected My Input and Bome Midi Translator 1 Virtual Out on the Midi Router and confirmed that MIDI data was properly input into Cubase. But Transpose doesn’t work at all.
I tried using Transpose +7 in the preset, but it still doesn’t change. What should I do?
Hi,
Could you show me a screenshot of your Cubase MIDI setup?
I assume the notes coming in are going to a track. Maybe post the Bome Project file as well so I can take a look. Do you have the ‘Swallow’ option set up in your translators. It is hard to tell from the screenshot you posted.
You can also turn on MIDI IN, MIDI OUT, Incoming and Outgoing in your Log Window and see what MIDI is being processed.
Anything with Osmose needs to be unchecked. We are passing everything from your controller through Bome MIDI Translator Pro to and from the Bome MIDI Translator 1 virtual port. The way you have it set up allows original MIDI from Osmose to pass directly to Cubase.

steve, disabling visible and In “All midi inputs” still doesn’t transpose.
Although Osmose is listed as Active in the State window, Osmose’s direct MIDI data is not actually transmitted to Cubase.
This is because the moment you connect Osmose to Bome, the connection with Cubase itself is lost.
As a result of capturing and recording MIDI input only with Bome Midi Translator 1 rather than all Midi Input, the Transpose function is still not activated.
The OS will determine priority on the port opened so it may indeed still be reading from both Osmose and BMT 1. I checked the project file and it works fine. It is transposing all incoming notes 7 semitones up.
1: MIDI IN [Steve-Gaming]: 90 20 7F
2: IN 0.0 Note On on ch. 1 with any note set 'pp' to note=32 with any velocity and 'qq' to velocity=127
3: MIDI OUT [Bome MIDI Translator 1 Virtual Out]: 90 27 7F
4: OUT 0.0 Note On on ch. 1 with note:rr=39 and velocity:qq=127
5: MIDI IN [Steve-Gaming]: 80 20 00
6: IN 0.1 Note Off on ch. 1 with any note set 'pp' to note=32 with any velocity and 'qq' to velocity=0
7: MIDI OUT [Bome MIDI Translator 1 Virtual Out]: 80 27 00
8: OUT 0.1 Note Off on ch. 1 with note:rr=39 and velocity:qq=0
Please disable Osmose and try again. If you need other non-note messages sent through to Cubase untouched, then you can add a MIDI thru path for those messages
