Sync 2 daws between 2 computers

I trying to sync studio one 4.5 (master) on one computer with Logic Pro on another one (slave). I have Bome Network Pro and Midi translator Pro. Is there any tutorial or even better a YouTube movie about that? thanks

Hi,

We have no tutorial on this specific situation, however you could use any sync signal that is supported by both DAWs to do this. MIDI clock would probably be the easiest, once you have the syncronization started, however it will not know where the down beat is. so you would need to send a start and stop message from Studio One to Logic pro so that Logic Pro knows when to start.

Getting MIDI from one computer to the other is relatively straight forward with Bome Network. The main question is what type of midi Sync each of the DAW’s use and I’m not that familiar with either of these DAW’s to know. If you know what they each support, and they are not compatible out of the Box, let me know and I can likely help guide you on how what to do (you will likely need MT Pro to do a conversion).

Are you just trying to keep the beat in sync or are you looking at something more elaborate that might include MIDI show control (MSC)?

The following links look promising as it looks like both Studio One and Logic Pro support MIDI Time Code.

Hi,

We generally do not create custom tutorials for users as a free service, however I could offer up a quick demo video using a different slave DAW that I already own. It would not be a tutorial, however, just video of screens as I set it up, no talking or instruction. I'd just need to ensure my DAW can use MIDI time clock. I don't think you would even need MT Pro. Just a working MIDI network between the computers (Bome Net or rtpMIDI).

I do not own Logic Pro. If you want me to show with Logic Pro, I can do this but it would be fee based and you would need to provide me with a license as well as my time. If interested in the fee based service, drop me an email. I think Logic Pro alone costs around $200 USD.
