Sysex: Composite messages

Im sending text to an MCU display (emulation) as a training tool for learning new shortcut system. I am able to easily send test messages using a keystroke as the trigger

F0 00 00 66 00 12 00 5A 4F 4F 4D 20 54 49 4D 45 20 20 20 20 FC
F0 00 00 66 00 12 38 2A 47 31 20 53 45 4C 45 43 54 49 4F 4E 20 2A 47 32 20 4C 4F 43 41 54 4F 52 53 20 20 2A 47 33 20 55 4E 44 4F 20 4C 41 53 54 20 2A 47 34 20 4F 55 54 20 46 55 4C 4C 20 20 FC

It contains 2 message, 1 for the top line text and another for bottom LCD

Im not getting it…the first trigger (of any type) only refreshes the top line, and another of the same then write the 2nd line

Why does the sysex need to be sent twice? It will be right in front of me…but Im tired…and its missing somewere

Hi,
Your SysEX message are malformed.

They should start with F0 and end with F7. You cannot put FC in a SysEX message. FC is a MIDI Stop message and stands alone.

FC is the terminator in this case it would seem?
It works as FC for single but will try with F7

EDIT: I did think it was weird but it creates a 2 part action whereas the F7 works as expected…every day is a school day I was told by a wise man!

Thanks Steve…

You are welcome, of course!
