TCP/IP routing of Midi connections

I wonder would it be possible to route the midi ethernet connections over more complicated tcp/ip networks? I mean that is the midi-over-ethernet -protocol implementation such that it could be routed in tcp/ip layer3 to other subnets?

At the moment one can't of course set the remote ip address of the bomebox network midi connection (there isn't such feature in the UI) but is the protocol implemented in such way that it would travel over more complex tcp/ip routing networks? Or is the protocol a layer2 protocol?

Hi, thanks for this question. It is on layer 3, so it is definitely possible to connect across subnets. Adding a manual connection by IP or host name is a great idea and we will consider it for an update of the Bome Network tool.
