The MIDI controllers are always recognized in the same order

Hello everyone
I have Bome Midi Translator Pro to connect 3 APc Mini MK2 to Daslight 5. Unfortunately, without Bome, Daslight can only handle two of the same devices. So far everything is going well and without any problems. The only problem I have is that Bome doesn’t always recognize the devices in the same order. Which wouldn’t be a bad thing if the controllers weren’t labeled independently. So of course it’s not great if that’s not true. I always have to adjust the links. Is there a trick to avoid this?

Thanks for your help.

Unfortunately I don’t speak English and I translated the text using Google. I hope you understand it.

Hi,

Unfortunately there is not much that can be done. The host operating system has different way of naming multiple controllers of the same type and it is not consistent. Sometimes just plugging them in the same USB slot every time will help but if not, you have to usually juggle cables around or adjust aliases to map to the different assigned devices. I usually do the latter. Create aliases with your own names and assign them to the current port names that the operating system assigned. If next time, each controller is assigned incorrectly, re-assign them to match the order you created with your aliases.

You can learn more about aliases from this tutorial.

You can get a USB hub with an individual switch for each device. Keep the duplicate turned off when booting so the other is always recognized by the system first, then switch the 2nd on.

I do this with two sets of duplicates.
