My old laptop died, and I had to purchase a new one. I’m using this new laptop for the sole purpose of music with Bome and Gig Performer.
I thought I reinstalled and transferred all the files; however, when I launch Bome I can see in the graphic monitor that it is receiving MIDI from my nanoKontrol 2, but It is not going to the output side. In other words, the little MIDI icon on the input side lights up when I press a button, but the corresponding MIDI icon for output does not light.
And obviously, Gig Performer is not receiving any MIDI from BOME in the global MIDI monitor.
What step did I miss in transferring to the new computer?
It is possible that Bome MIDI Translator Pro is configured without any virtual ports on your new system. You can device the number of virtual ports you need (up to 9) on the settings screen,
Hello SteveC, thank you for the quick reply. I double checked, and my virtual ports were selected. Do you think switching to the short names would somehow trigger Gig Performer to work?
It depends on how you defined your Gig Performer MIDI Ports. Keep in mind, if you are on Windows, 2 apps cannot share the same MIDI port so you would need to split the signal from your controller to 2 virtual ports (one for each application).

Yes, I am using two virtual MIDI lines from Bome. However, I noticed in the Event Monitor the MIDI Out light no longer blinks as if Bome is not sending out a MIDI signal. See attached.
Gig Performer sees whether I have 2 or 3 virtual MIDI lines from BOME, and if I change to the short names, Gig Performer sees that as well. It’s just not receiving any MIDI from Bome.
Please open your log window in Bome MIDI Translator Pro and check all boxes and send and MIDI message that isn’t working and copy and pasted the screenshot. My guess is that you are either not monitoring the correct port for input , that the MIDI message is not matching the incoming trigger or the your MIDI routing is not set correctly in your translator, preset, or project.
Alternatively, you can share your project file.
If you see MIDI IN but not Incoming. Then your translator is looking for the wrong message, you are choosing the wrong incoming port, or your aliases are not set correctly.
You can learn more about aliases from this tutorial.
For more information about device selection, see this tutorial.

For portability between systems and to reduce development time if there are port changes, you should always use aliases instead of the physical port name.
Preset 3 translator routing is shown as follows. If you add translators to this preset, it will inherit that routing unless overwritten in the transltor.
Good morning, Steve – That Worked! So glad to be up and running again as I have used the software without any issues at all since you initially helped me in 2023! Thanks again, and Happy New Year~!
