Hi all, I’ve been using TP for a few weeks with amazing results, but yesterday the software stopped sending MIDI outs. In the event log box, I can see that the messages come in and a message is sent as directed but the MIDI out light never lights up and Ableton does not see an input occur. Everything was working great and no changes have been made. It is a very simple translation of raw MIDI (in and out) from a foot switch with Note On = 90 pp qq and Note Off = 80 pp qq I’ve exhausted the manual, this forum, and the web and am still not able to find the error.
The most likely cause is that you have another MIDI application trying to access the same MIDI port. On Windows, only one application can access a given MIDI port at a time. Make sure that any other application besides the one you are using does not open the MIDI port that your are using. You can usually do this within a settings on your MIDI application, but if you can’t just make sure your other application is started afterwards as the first application that tries to open a given MIDI port will win and take exclusive access.
Alternatively, it is possible that you have either not selected the correct output port in Bome MIDI Translator Pro or that you have defined an alias incorrectly so that the MIDI is going to the wrong port.
You can learn more about aliases from this tutorial.
For more information about device selection, see this tutorial.

Thanks Steve. No aliases are used and the output is correct. I suspect it’s your first idea. I’ll give that a go. If this is the case, why does the MIDI out light in the monitor not function? Input lights up, but not output.
Well… I tried disconnecting and closing the software and Ableton as well as disconnecting the MIDI switch I’m using. I then opened TP then Ableton then powered the switch. I still can’t seem to get it to output MIDI. Here are a few pics, apology for the camera pics, my screenshot is not working on my laptop. To recap what I’m doing is sending a MIDI msg from a footswitch to TP for translating into an identical MIDI msg and sending to Ableton. What is next to try?
Hi, I see your DORE MIDI (I assume from your footswitch) is sending B0 40 7F which is CC 64 (40 hex) on MIDI CH 1 with velocity 127 (7F Hex).
Your translator is expecting a Note-On MIDI CH 1 any note any velocity and
Note-Off MIDI CH 1 any note any velocity.
If you want the original message to get through you can draw a line from your input device to your output device in the Bome MIDI Translator Pro midi router.
If you want to translated to a different message you need to write another translator with the desired input and the select the output you want to send.
