I compose orchestrations with VSL samples that are played thru their Synchron Player. I use an external controller with faders called the Sparrow to send cc messages to control instrument express and articulation. The stand alone version of the player works great. But I need their VST 3 plugin used in Studio One 6 to work more than intermittently. So someone at VI Control forum suggested that BOME might help. So here I am.
Hi and welcome to the Bome community!
I believe we can help. With Bome MIDI Translator Pro, we could route MIDI from two different devices to the same MIDI device in Studio One so that from a Studio One perspective they will see the MIDI as one device. I donβt think the VST3 supports MIDI, however as a host, I believe Studio One could take the incoming MIDI and translate that to the VST parameters that you want to control.
In the below diagram, the black arrows represent physical connections between your player and controller to your host computer. The red arrows are the physical port names seen by your host computer and Bome MIDI Translator Pro. The green arrow is the merged output. If necessary in Bome MIDI Translator, we can also set up translators that modify the incoming signals to whatever Studio One needs to direct the MIDI signals to the plugin correctly.
If I remember, VST3 does not handle MIDI so hopefully in Studio One, there is something to convert incoming MIDI signals to the proper VST parameters.
You can download a free trial of Bome MIDI Translator Pro here. It is fully functional however times out every 20 minutes. This should provide you the opportunity to test to see if it works prior to purchasing the full version.
