Virtual Ports disappearing after reboot

Hi there,

I’m working on a redundant setup with two Mac minis m4 pro, connected thru a switch to 2 bome boxes, powered in PoE. One Bomebox is perfectly reliable but the other one is struggling only on 1 computer.
On this specific computer the first connexion worked perfectly but after reboot the virtual ports will have disappear and the connection will never be properly managed (it keeps blinking pending). The firmware and Bome Network versions are the same everywhere, I tried factory reset on the faulty bomebox and it didn’t changed a thing. I swapped with another Bome Box of my stock and this one works perfectly on both computers.

Would you have any leads to investigate ?
Thanks a lot
Best

Emile

Hi, and sorry for your problem.

Could you send screenshots of the following web pages on the problem BomeBox?

-Overview (that shows firmware version)
-Ethernet Settings
-WiFi Settings
-Network MIDI Settings

Do you have both WiFi and ethernet turned on? Which method are you connecting the BomeBox? Are you accessin the main network port from your Mac or are you using Remote Direct MIDI?

Thanks for the quick response.

In the Network MIDI Settings, my computer B was in fact not connected which is weird since I tried to connect it from the Bome software like the other one.

But by connecting from there the issue disapeared. Still a weird bug tho but at least I can work with it

Well, I’m glad you have it working, however I would be interested in understanding the exact steps you were using to try to connect. Normally when you connect a new BomeBox from a computer, you need to press the pair switch on the BomeBox to accept the computer connection when initiated by the computer. You can also go to the BomeBox web page and confirm the connection on it’s MIDI network page.

Yeah I did that and it worked perfectly but then when I would re start the computer it will stop connecting and the virtual routes Will have disappear. When trying to quit Bome Net it would crash, and the only way to get my virtual routes back was to reinstall Bome net on the computer

What version of Bome Network are you running?

1.6.0

Thanks
