Hey, is there some other way to resume BMT after Windows sleep other than closing and reopening the program?

Hi, I’m not aware of this problem, however I know Windows just updated its MIDI subsystem so maybe the Windows MIDI services are not starting after sleep or that they start later than Bome MIDI Translator Pro is available. If Windows MIDI services are not running, then Bome MIDI Translator Pro would not have any visibility of MIDI ports.

I’ll do some further checking.

Oh, I see I was not clear with my question. But I take it there is no other way to restart Bome when the STOP/START doesn’t do it and only shut down and restart of the program does it…?

Keyboard shortcuts Control-Shift-R (Windows) or Command-Shift-R (Mac) will restart the project.

If the project settings are also set to disallow multiple instances (which is the default), you could always use an outgoing action of execute file as a command line option.

You can find this information in the help file by pressing F1 or going to the help menu withing Bome MIDI Translator Pro. The manual will open as a .PDF file.

With another application, I can reproduce a problem with the new Windows MIDI Services which I can only solve by restarting that application.

Normally, MT Pro minimizes opening/closing of MIDI ports. If merely reopening a MIDI port will bring it back to life, Ctrl-Shift-R may not be enough to restart the MIDI ports. For that, close the current project (CTRL+F4) followed by reopening the last one in the file menu.

Another way would be to

  • only use preset default MIDI ports
  • disable all presets with default MIDI ports
  • then re-enable them

That will also close all MIDI ports and then re-open them. Disabling/Enabling presets can be automated from within your project, e.g. triggered by a Keystroke Incoming action, and executed by a timer.
