Hi all, I’m absolutely new to this site. I’ve been trying to set my zero sl mk ii to control faders, solo mute etc… within Protools using advanced mode (no automap).
No luck until I found this site, tried one of the one fader templates I found, and was able to connect it up to one of the faders in the controller and was able to control fader 1 in protools.
So that gave me hope!
If anyone has experience with the zero sl or remote sl please feel free to share any info my way.
Well, I’m not an expert on the Zero SL MK II, but looking at the manual, it appears that it is a programmable controller so depending on how you program it, you could probably use Bome MIDI Translator Pro to communicate with ProTools. It also appears that there is an “Automap” template for ProTools but I’m not sure how well it would work.
I would need to know the MIDI message that you have it programmed to use and then I could assist with maybe a few faders a few V-Pots and Mute, Solo for free. For a complete solution, I would need the current mapping for all controls and could help with my independent paid services. I would recommend if the encoders are not relative mode, that they be programmed that way as it would make it easier because ProTools V-Pots are also relative mode.

On the SL every accessible fader, button, pot and encoder is easily re-assignable with a few button presses, and with an editor named edison, each control can be quickly edited deeper and set to generate #CC, NRPN, RPN or Sysex messages, program change, note on / off, template change.
Is #CC the best format for Bome Midi Translator?
Thanks I’d greatly appreciate any help at all.
I’ve used another fader example you shared on this forum and managed to connect the first fader on the SL to the first track fader in pro tools. It was so great to find something that actually worked! But also that I’m about to encounter a steep learning curve that will hopefully prove to be immensely useful in controlling my DAW with regular midi controllers.
If I can learn and self teach enough to map all the controls on the SL and translate them to HUI protocol for pro tools, with the 32 on board templates it should have me pretty covered for controls.
is there a manual?
Do I need to assign specific #cc numbers to the controllers for you to be able to proceed?
Anything that you’d like to send me Steve I’ll gladly recieve to try out and learn from. I’m eager to get this working in my studio, but realise that if I’m gonna learn it, it might be a bit of a process…
Thanks Steve for sharing that document… That’s a much bigger learning curve (more like a cliff LOL ) for me than I anticipated. I think I’ll leave the zero sl to use with ableton which plays much nicer with midi controllers than pro tools does, and look at a eucon based control surface for pro tools.
OK, let me know if you change your mind. I’ve done many Mackie HUI projects for generic controllers. I think it would come down to a matter of cost (my time vs the cost of a new controller).
