Hi. I´m using a bomebox. i have tried both with 1.6.1 and 1.5.4 firmware
1 end has 1 bomebox, connected via fiber through 2 luminex 30i switches.
on the other end is 3 machines that i wanna use to potentially connect to the bomebox ( on the same vlan)
I use static ip for ethernet
I can see the bomebox, but i cant access the web gui, connect or ping the bomebox
I can ping other ip´s on the vlan from my laptop
i can see the bomebox in bome network, but cant connect.
the computers doesnt show up in the bomebox gui.
only way i can access the gui and connect is via wifi
when i collect through an unmannaged switch, it works fine.
Hi, since it works with an unmanaged switch, that tells me that your BomeBox is working. I believe you would need to configure your switch and if you are not sure how to do that, discuss with a networking expert or the switch manufacturer. If I remember, the switch manages the VLAN tags to ensure that the routing is sent to the appropriate port. This all happens on the switch and is transparent to the devices.

Hi. This also works fine between computers for bome network on the vlan - its only the bomebox that this doesnt work with… it keeps saying connecting and as mentioned, as the only device on the network. i cant ping it
Hi, I’ve seen posts that BomeBox works fine over VLAN it the switch is set up correctly. See this post.
Here are some tips:
• Standard IP Packets: The BomeBox uses standard Ethernet and standard IP/UDP packets for its network MIDI communication, meaning it does not conflict with professional AV protocols like Dante, AES67, or AVB/MILAN running on the same hardware.
• Broadcast Domains & VLANs: For automatic device discovery and communication between BomeBoxes or computers via Bome Network, the devices must share the same broadcast domain (or have proper VLAN trunking / multicast/broadcast pass-through configured on the Luminex switch).
• Switch Group Settings: If you are using Luminex GigaCore switches, make sure your ports are assigned to the appropriate Groups (VLAN equivalents) so that the BomeBox traffic can communicate with your target devices or computers without being isolated.
Again, VLAN is a function of the switch and not individual devices so if it works on a non-managed switch but not a managed switch then there is something wrong with the switch setup.

Again this is likely a managed switch configuration issue. If you have others that are working, then move the BomeBox that is not working to a port on your switch that is working. If the problem goes away, then then your non-working port is not configured correctly on your switch.
