Yes, I did re-download and un-install, re-install a few times just in case I was getting a corrupt download. Interesting that you are not seeing that and I am.
Here is something else to test - Windows Remote Desktop appears to kill the midi ports. If I boot the mini PC with a monitor and keyboard attached, everything works fine, Bome Network running, Gig Performer up and receiving midi from the Bome Box, life is good. If I then disconnect the monitor and keyboard, everything keeps working, still good. But….
…as soon as I remote desktop into that computer, the virtual midi ports vanish. Bome Network is still running and receiving midi from the Bome Box, but applications (Gig Performer, Reaper, or even MT Pro) no longer see the ports. Closing the midi remote desktop connection does not fix the problem - I have to reboot with the monitor attached. Not sure why RDP is killing the midi ports, but that behavior is very repeatable on my end. Curious to see if you have the same experience.
The mini PC sits on stage as it connects via USB to the stage box (a WING Rack). The plan was to run it headless and RDP into it for adjusting plugins if needed, so this creates a bit of a problem. Any idea why a remote desktop connection would kill the functionality? Again, Bome Network still sees the box and receives midi data no problem, it is just the applications no longer see the virtual midi ports.
Sorry this detail took me so long to find. It never occurred to me that remote desktop would be a problem. I operate lots of equipment this way with connected devices and have never had a problem. It wasn’t until I needed to configure BIOS settings that I connected directly to the mini PC and then figured out RDP was the problem.
