Hi all. Hoping someone can assist me. All I’m after is sending the MIDI from my NI Komplete Kontrol A49 to both Pro Tools and Sibelius as separate outs. I’ve set everything up as per YouTube and manual instructions, and despite only having BMT 1 selected in Pro Tools:
Whichever program I launch first will take control of all 3 virtual ports (the 3rd is reserved for VSTis running outside of either program)
What on earth have I missed? And also, why can I not rename these virtual ports?
Many thanks in advance,
Mark
P.S. The Arduino controller is a two fader MIDI box for controlling Spitfire instruments.
I’ve run into issues with Pro Tools in the past, taking over virtual ports making them unusable for other applications. I use the procedure documented here to fix this.
Sometimes a reboot is needed after this procedure. Once you have unset the ports you don’t want to use in Pro-Tools, it should no longer continute to take over MIDI ports.
Bome Virtual Port names are not changeable. You can use the view-> setting menu in Bome MIDI Translator Pro to make them either long names or short names.
There is another tool we have that allows for named ports. It is an add-on to Bome Network called ‘Unlimited Named MIDI Ports’ and has more advanced routing capabilities as well. Having the advanced capabilities in might be a bit harder at first to figure it out. This post explains how they work.
Internally within Bome MIDI Translator Pro you can give Bome MIDI Translator Pro ports your own internal aliases.
You can learn more about aliases from this tutorial.

Thank you for your response. A restart and trashing of the prefs did help and I’ve found that starting Sibelius before Pro Tools is the only way to have them both working.
