My BomeBox is not saving Route Sets anymore. The option to save and load is still there on 1.5.3 (and 1.5.3.3), but when I select save, then name my route set and hit save again, it’s lost and not added to Route sets-list, which remains empty. Used to work on earlier firmwares.
Years go by, and nothing regarding these features gets added. Quite frankly seems like Bome software is not actively being developed anymore. Hopefully this is not the case, as I’ve been waiting and missing these features for ages now.
Hi, I’m not able to look at your version because I don’t have a BomeBox with me today. However a new version of BomeBox firmware should be released very soon.
I’ll let Florian answer your question about OSC.

Hi Steve!
Thanks for the info. Hopefully it will include at least some of the missing features.
Regarding the route sets. - I know I can save routings within the translator project and they load with the project in BomeBox too. However, I once again found myself in a situation where I needed to edit routings without access to BMT, so I’d also like to repeat my wish for a browser-based BomeBox project editor too, like I wished for here: https://forum.bome.com/t/bomebox-editor-midi-translator-pro-equivalent-via-web-browser/4554.
It could be a simple html-editor without a translator engine, hosted on BomeBox, or a downloadable html-site or whatever. Should be simple enough to implement, no? It would be super convenient to be able to edit the projects running in BomeBox using an iPad or whatever when minor tweaking is needed, and also on Mac/PC without closing the currently running BMT project on Mac/PC.
Hi, thanks for the report and the suggestion. The Route Set problem is a known bug and will be fixed in the next firmware version (due soon). It only occurs on a few setups.
Regarding OSC and other new features: we are actively developing our software and firmware. But our main focus is on reliability and absolute robustness in situations like unplugged cable. We have been able to improve many exceptional cases there. Of course, that will not be visible. It will just work better in unforeseen situations.
Also, we are working on new features in parallel. But we will only include new features in the BomeBox firmware when they’re 100% done and tested.
I understand any frustration there. But keep in mind that it is a nice touch that we do add new features to our products at all… and usually, even for free.

Reliability is important, I agree with you there.

It is a nice touch, sure, but in this case it would have been nicer not to mention the upcoming OSC support at all, as it’s taken this long. OSC support was mentioned on BomeBox product page as an upcoming feature years ago. (You’ve later on changed the wording to ”we may add OSC-to-MIDI in a future firmware update.”, but it’s still there) I even asked you about both OSC and multi-stream prior to my BomeBox purchase, and you replied here: https://forum.bome.com/t/bomebox-upcoming-osc-features/1483, so after that I really think it’s more about keeping your word, than a nice touch.
I know you never promised any date of availability, which is wise of course, but to be frank your willingness to offer me to test a pre-release beta with OSC (which I never got, because " it’s still lacking important features.") already back in 2020 led me to believe that OSC-support was right around the corner. Hopefully it now is.
Don’t get me wrong, I still highly value Bome’s Midi Translator, BomeBox and their feature sets. It’s just that IMHO adding these promised features is taking way too long.
