LED Feedback for Rekordbox 7 & Akai APC Mini mk2 with Bome?

Hi Bome MIDI Forum,

Can I create a map file with Bome MIDI Translator Pro to get LED feedback on my Akai APC Mini mk2 from Rekordbox 7? Will it work?

Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the Bome community!

If Rekordbox sends MIDI then yes, it will just need to be converted to the MIDI format the the APC MINI MK2 requires.

This post is a summary of what the APC MINI MK2 is looking for regarding LED feedback.

i m not good with midi softwares
how can i do this.
i just wanna map for pads
like hotcues or samples
when i push pad , some functions will work/play than pad led on
when i push same pad again, functions will stop than pad led off
is it possible with bome midi pro?

If you have one of the paid plans, you can use MIDI learn. If the pad is on the 8x8 matrix, then map out to MIDI CH 7.

So if the input pad is

9001 (MIDI CH 1) - then the output would be 9601 (MIDI CH 7).

For pads along the bottom and the side you would just use the same MIDI channel.

The behavior of on or off would be controlled by RekordBox, If you need alternative colors, we would need to see what messages are being sent back from RekordBox and adjust them as desired.

You can monitor this by setting you input device for RekordBox to BMT1 instead of APC-MINI MK2 and then putting Bome MIDI Translator Pro in between the controller and the virtual ports like shown below.

Then in Bome MIDI Translator Pro, you can monitor MIDI activity in the log window by checking MIDI IN and MIDI OUT.

I don’t think the free version or RekordBox allows for custom MIDI mapping but you can check with them.

i have paid plans of rekordbox
but also free plans work with midi learn
i have also reloop neon, akai lpd8 i mapped them with free plans.
i just bought akai apc mini mk2 yesterday its on the way now.
i just want to understad how its work step by step with bome midi pro
for example if i did map ( what i want) for akai apc mini mk2 on rekordbox,
bome midi pro will be on , i mean , are they will work both same time? and what about latency if virtual midi works

I’m sure your LPD8 will send different MIDI messages than your APC MINI MKII. I don’t know if Rekordbox allows for simultaneous use of multiple controllers, but if they do, they would need to be mapped to different MIDI ports. If they don’t, then you could use Bome MIDI Translator Pro to merge data 2 and from both of your controllers but you would probably need to translate messages so that the messages match what RecordBox wants and that the appropriate LED Feedback goes back to each device on the MIDI port your are using to connect to RecordBox.

See below diagram.

There are also examples on this forum of connecting 2 APC MINI MK2’s to other applications. This one comes to mind but you can search and maybe find better examples.

thank you i understand a bit, how its work.
Rekordbox allows for simultaneous use of multiple controllers, i play music with 3 midi controller
ddj 800 (official rekordbox control, reloop neon, akai lpd8) they are all work.
but the problem is for example lpd8 leds dont feedback correctly , if function is on rekordbox pad led isnt on (like this)
Reloop neon is works %90 ( when i press pad than function is on rekordbox led is on when i press again same pad fcunction is off and led is off, the only problem is cant change pad colours.)
when i get akai mini mk2 , i think i ll have same led feedback pad problems
i saved video but cant send here.

Hi, I can’t view your feed.

I will be able to help once you connect up your controller with Bome MIDI Translator Pro and turn on logging so we can see what Rekordbox is sending. All buttons on the APC MINI and LPD8 are momentary so maybe that has something to do with it.

The Rekordbox plans show no free plan has MIDI Learn.
